Becoming involved in this event...

1. How did you get involved in the Bottlemart 2008 Smiling for Smiddy Challenge?

Observed it and sponsored it last year, but decided to join in this time round

2. If you knew Adam Smiddy please share how you knew him and what it means for you to ride in remembrance of Adam?

I didn't know Smiddy personally, but hearing his story as a 24 yr old active Australian male who also attended UQ myself. It really made me stop and think, 26 is too young and is too close to home for me to do nothing about.

3. Please list your reasons why you will undertake this challenge?

I am undertaking this ride as a personal challenge. I am struggling to recovering from a dislocated ankle and broken leg that occurred approx 18mths ago and the ride gives me great motivation to regain my fitness while in the mean time raising money for a great cause.

Your expectations of this event...

4. What do you expect the ride to be like, and what will you do to get through it?

I expect the ride will be fairly tough for me, even though it is only 1 day! It is my first experience with road riding and I have a lot of training to come before the 17th of Sept!!

5. What is your advice for other riders accompanying you on your journey?

Wait for me!!

What you bring to this event...

6. What are your 'good' attributes and how will they help you participate in the Bottlemart 2008 Smiling for Smiddy Challenge?

Good sense of humour and a great singing voice!! May not help too much during the ride though because I can't foresee having much air to spare!

7. Do you have any bad traits that you wish to share with your team mates prior to the ride starting?

Lycra is not my friend!

8. Are you a team person? And how do you see yourself fitting in with the group, especially when the realisation hits home that the ride is no picnic in the park?

I think I'll fit in fine at the pub afterwards.

9. How much are you hoping to raise?

10,000 would be great, but due to my late start I will be happy with 5,000.

What your preparation consists of...

10. Will you do anything different, besides riding, to help you prepare for the ride?

Buying a road bike will be a good start!

11. What is the longest distance you have covered over one week, and how did you handle it physically and mentally?

Haven't had the chance to test it yet.

12. What would you like to pass on to your personal supporters?
