Becoming involved in this event...

1. How did you get involved in the Bottlemart 2008 Smiling for Smiddy Challenge?

Natalie Flohr from rtca called me and asked if I rode a bike and would I be interested in representing CCMP as there was no-one else riding at that stage.

2. If you knew Adam Smiddy please share how you knew him and what it means for you to ride in remembrance of Adam?

Didn't know him.

3. Please list your reasons why you will undertake this challenge?

Ambitions mixed up with capabilities - but more importantly I wanted to help raise the awareness.

Your expectations of this event...

4. What do you expect the ride to be like, and what will you do to get through it?

I expect it to be bloody hard, but compared to those doing the whole journey my little section shouldn't be too difficult... I hope!

5. What is your advice for other riders accompanying you on your journey?

Can they ride that slow?

What you bring to this event...

6. What are your 'good' attributes and how will they help you participate in the Bottlemart 2008 Smiling for Smiddy Challenge?

Hopefully just the fact that I'm having a go and that I don't whinge too much.

7. Do you have any bad traits that you wish to share with your team mates prior to the ride starting?

Just that I'm a really ordinary bike rider.

8. Are you a team person? And how do you see yourself fitting in with the group, especially when the realisation hits home that the ride is no picnic in the park?

Yes I am a team person but again my little ride shouldn't impact too much on anyone... accept me of course.

9. How much are you hoping to raise?

Not sure...

What your preparation consists of...

10. Will you do anything different, besides riding, to help you prepare for the ride

Exactly that, riding, walking the dog around the local lagoon and praying that I achieve the distance.

11. What is the longest distance you have covered over one week, and how did you handle it physically and mentally?

Lots of years ago I did a 4 day ride from Cairns to Port Douglas, up the Rex Range to Mareeba and back to Cairns. A lot younger and definitely much, much fitter those days.

12. What would you like to pass on to your personal supporters?
